Avengers project, Iron Man Progress

All I've managed to finish on the Iron Man piece before heading out of town for a bit. Hopefully it'll get finished soon. The sneeze theory did not work sadly - the Iron Man suit has proven to be... complex. And I thought Thor was a rough one to figure out >.> Ah well, it isn't fun if it's easy

Avengers project, Thor

Next on the list was Thor, at the pleading of a friend of mine. Progress was opposite for the last one; Hulk was a fast sketch/layout phase with most time spent on shading. This one was a long drawing phase, but relatively fast to shade. Maybe the next one I'll sneeze and the thing will magically be done...

Avengers "art project", Hulk final

Final version. About 20 hours total, mostly on Hulk and not Mark Ruffalo's face... Done with black/white charcoal, black pencil crayon, and assorted graphite pencils on 9x12 gray construction paper.

Avengers "art project", Hulk progress

Saw The Avengers; I thought it was a fantastic movie. Fantastic movies always make me want to draw afterwards, and for the first time in a while, I have the time to work on art when I'm inspired :) So, progress shot of the first of (hopefully) a bunch of these. Current time spent is at... uh... The Incredible Hulk (2008) x 4 viewings, and 7 episodes of ST: Voyager. I've missed gray paper and my pencils...

Portrait Work

Recently completed job, inspired by the Harry Potter portraits I'd done prior (HermioneSnape). Request was to portray the subject in "Hogwarts attire" (not her clothing from the photograph) and have her "patronus" as a polar bear cub. Wish I had a scanner that could fit 11x14 pages...

Life Drawing - Mar 16/12

Tried a new Nupastel combo today: gray midtone on the newsprint with black and white shadows/highlights - seemed to work well enough. I still miss the control of a pencil whenever I use conte or pastels, though...

Life Drawing - Mar 9/12

Had the sword fighting instructors from the college suit up and do some motions for us in class. That armor is complicated :/

Life Drawing - Feb 10/12

Long study from a few weeks back. I was kind of making up the hands and foot as I went, since the model kept shifting. Not an excuse, but... yep.

Life Drawing - Mar 2/12

Long study from today. I'm still not a fan of Nupastel, but at least when I have an hour to draw with it, it has the potential to maybe come out ok...
